IPFS, Decentralization, and Ownership

The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) embodies the principles of Partial Objects technologically. Files are addressed by cryptographic hashes rather than physical servers, decentralizing storage and circulation. This decentralization has philosophical and political implications:

  • No single institution can monopolize the archive.
  • Objects cannot be silently altered or removed.
  • Access becomes distributed, open, and participatory.

By aligning archive infrastructure with Schopenhauerian philosophy, Tabula Rasa ensures that fragments of Will remain accessible, resilient, and resistant to institutional erasure (Benet, 2015).
